“ The Smart City Committee in the Fiber connect Council MENA mission is to promote the deployment of ultra-high-speed FTTX, recognized as the most sustainable access network essential to reducing the carbon footprint and at the heart of cities' digital transformation. The committee is dedicated to supporting urban development through guidelines, standards, and services that underscore deployment strategies, applications, and benefits for Smart Cities, campuses, and real estate developments across the MENA region.
This month, we feature MENA region updates on smart city applications, including Smart Energy, and Smart Environment. In addition, we feature our collaboration with ITU to build city guidelines to achieve UN SDGs in many workgroups, Autonomous cities, Smart city procurement, Digital well-being, and Smart City platforms.
In closing, it is critical to highlight the pivotal role of optical fiber in meeting the high bandwidth demand required by smart city infrastructure networks. With the ultra-wide bandwidth provided by optical fiber, these networks can support the extensive number of IoT devices embedded in smart city applications worldwide.
