STL has partnered with Kinetic, the fiber internet provider and business unit of Uniti (NASDAQ: UNIT), to support Kinetic’s fiber network expansion in the United States. The agreement is with STL Optical Connectivity NA, LLC, STL’s wholly owned subsidiary focused on optical connectivity products in North America.
What the partnership covers
Kinetic gains access to STL’s fiber deployment technology and supply chain resources for its fiber expansion programme.
STL provides a connectorized, plug-and-play fiber cable assembly solution, which Kinetic calls “Kinetic QuickConnect”, combining cable assemblies, enclosures and cassettes.
The solution works for both aerial and buried installations, and allows Kinetic to route dedicated fibers to commercial locations.
Kinetic tested the technology in several North Carolina neighbourhoods, in both aerial and underground deployments, before rolling it out more widely.
About Kinetic
Kinetic provides residential and business fiber internet across 18 US states, serving around 1,400 markets in the Southwest, Southeast, Midwest and Northeast. It has recently passed more than 2 million homes with fiber.
What Kinetic said
Manny Sampedro, Chief Network Officer at Kinetic, said that working with STL, and drawing on its global supply chain strength and pre-connectorized fiber technology, allows Kinetic to build faster, reduce deployment costs, improve installation quality and connect customers sooner.
