Dura-Line Honored with Platinum Innovator Award
Dura-Line is being honored with the Platinum Innovator Award from Cabling Installation & Maintenance for its work on the Seattle Sound Transit Authority Railway system.
Seattle was facing rail congestion and needed an upgrade to accommodate the 49,000 person daily ridership expected by 2022. The priorities were public safety and seamless communication. Dura-Line’s Clark Guler, Business Developer Manager – MicroTechnology, U.S., worked with the Seattle Sound Transit Authority to choose the appropriate products. The Fiber Guys, a telecommunications company based in Oregon, installed over 22,500 feet of Dura-Line’s 1 inch Low Smoke Zero Halogen. This product was chosen for its low coefficient of friction, which provides less stress on the cable and allows for greater air-jetting distances.
Dura-Line’s Low Smoke Zero Halogen product was reintroduced in 2018 as the first of its kind in the U.S. as a MicroDuct. It is ETL verified to UL1685-4, IEC 60754-1, IEEE-1202, and NFPA-130. Its properties of low flame propagation, low smoke generation, zero halogen emissions and low temperature mechanical properties make it ideal for installations in mass transit corridors.
