Council member Emtelle announced on 7 September 2026 the launch of Rapid Customer Connect (RCC), a connection-ready "Homes Passed Plus" deployment model. RCC pre-installs the fiber infrastructure up to the property boundary, so homes, multi-dwelling units and business premises are ready for activation as soon as a customer places an order.

Tackling the last mile

The final stage of fiber deployment is one of the industry's biggest bottlenecks: blocked ducts, access problems and repeat site visits delay connections and raise costs. RCC lets operators complete the physical build upfront, creating a dedicated fiber pathway before service is requested.

How it works

RCC combines the RCC Round Toby Box, the RCC FibrePuck, feeder duct and Emtelle's RTRYVA fiber system into one pathway from the aggregation point to the customer.

  • The RCC Round Toby Box is installed by core drilling and resin reinstatement instead of excavation, cutting backfill by up to 75% and installation time from about 45 minutes to 7 minutes.
  • The IP68-rated RCC FibrePuck provides protected, connection-ready fiber management at the property boundary.

What operators gain

  • Up to 60% lower deployment costs, through less excavation, labour and reinstatement.
  • Installations 3 to 5 times faster than traditional methods.
  • Service activation up to 4 times faster from the point of order.
  • Fewer delayed or failed connections, thanks to pre-installed pathways.

For residents and businesses, smaller excavations and shorter build times mean a quicker, cleaner and less disruptive installation.

Award at Connected Britain 2026

RCC was launched and demonstrated at Connected Britain 2026, where it won the Access Innovation Award. Emtelle developed the solution with the support of BT Group, Openreach and Synthotech.
