Dr. Alaa Jasim, CEO of Earthlink and President of the Fiber Connect Council MENA, addressed the significance of this pivotal conference and its implications for Iraq. During his keynote speech, Dr. Jasim emphasized Iraq's status as the foremost importer of fiber cable in the region. Furthermore, he announced a strategic decision by himself and the Fiber Connect Council to establish two evaluation centers for imported FTTH equipment and fiber cables entering Iraq.

Dr. Jasim underscored that all his endeavors are in alignment with the nation's interests, aiming to propel Iraq's telecommunications sector forward. His efforts have yielded tangible results, propelling Iraq from the 9th to the 3rd position in the FTTH field in the Middle East and North Africa region within a short span of time. This remarkable progress signifies a steadfast commitment to advancing Iraq's digital infrastructure and positioning it as a frontrunner in connectivity within the region.


In the presence of a number of ministers, representatives, advisors to the Prime Minister, the Central Bank, Arab ambassadors, international organizations, the World Bank, and the United Nations Development Programme.

Advisor to the Prime Minister for Digital Transformation Affairs, Dr. Hassan Al-Khatib, inaugurates the work of the Digital Economy Forum, with the participation of more than 50 local and international experts and specialists, and in the presence of more than 500 specialists.
Dr. Hassan Al-Khatib confirmed that “it will be a year of digital transformation.”

Saying: We are now in the process of entering a new phase, a serious phase to achieve digital transformation and reach a real digital economy that is capable and capable of competing with developed countries. We have not achieved the minimum range to reach digital transformation to accelerate the wheel of production. We have very huge projects about to be implemented. We start with it, and there will be productivity on the ground.

Ambassador Muhammad Khair confirmed that the economic sector in the Arab countries is increasing thanks to the investments made by the Arab countries to enhance electronic digital services by transforming the government into an interconnected government for its digital systems and improving work within the state’s administrative apparatus so that it works efficiently and effectively.
