Huawei successfully hosted the Global Optical Summit (GOS) 2025 – Central Asia & Middle East, under the theme “Accelerate F5G-A, Amplify Intelligence”, bringing together more than 250 global industry experts, customers, and ecosystem partners.
The summit focused on the transformative potential of optical networks and AI in driving industrial upgrades and intelligent digital infrastructure across the region.

Among the distinguished participants was the Fiber Connect Council MENA, represented by
Director General Kholoud Aldorgham, who delivered a keynote speech highlighting fiber networks as a cornerstone of the digital economy.
She emphasized that fiber is expanding beyond residential applications into enterprise and smart city environments, thanks to its high bandwidth, low latency, and sustainable design.
“Accelerated deployment, smart city integration, and cross-border collaboration are essential to unlocking fiber’s full potential,” Kholoud stated. “These elements are key to enabling inclusive digital growth and resilient digital economies across the region.”
The Council was also represented by Dr. Houssam AlMasri, Chair of the Smart Cities Ops and Apps Committee, who participated in the roundtable discussion titled
“Boost AI with Fiber, FTTO Empowers Smart Cities.”
The session examined how Fiber to the Office (FTTO) and next-gen optical networks support smart infrastructure by enabling seamless AI integration.

More than 40 stakeholders took part in discussions on real-world fiber applications in hospitality, real estate, and education, reinforcing the critical role of fiber in accelerating digital transformation across verticals.
The summit marked a significant milestone in regional collaboration toward building intelligent optical networks, aligned with the next generation of fixed network evolution (F5G-A), and solidified the role of fiber as a strategic enabler of smart, connected societies.
